Seasonal hair loss? Remedy with a correct Hair Care Routine

We are in the middle of the change of season and as nice as it is always to witness the rebirth of nature, this also has a great impact on our hair as seasonal fall occurs.

Your messages are proof of that. I want to clarify that hair loss during spring and autumn has been scientifically proven and is completely natural.

Seasonal effluvium: this unknown

seasonal effluvium hair fall beautilicious

It should not be forgotten that when we come out of the summer and the hair has been subjected to stress - from the sun's rays, to the saltiness and again, the chlorine from the swimming pools - and finding yourself in autumn with brittle, dull hair subject to greater fall out is not not abnormal at all.

The same is true when we emerge from winter, therefore from a period of high humidity, always wearing a hat, sudden changes in temperature and a very dry environment due to heating.

So I want to cheer you up, letting you know that hair grows faster in April and October .

Like all things, hair too has a life cycle - with alternations between growth and rest - and all this happens in the follicle, without us noticing anything.

Don't you find it interesting? Something that happens to your mane periodically and doesn't shake your daily routine.

The 3 phases of the life cycle of a hair

Now let's see the 3 phases of the life cycle of a hair:

1 ️ ⃣ Anagen : it's a growth phase and it's a period that lasts on average 2-4 years in men and 3-7 years in women. Statistically, on a healthy skin, the hair lengthens by about 1 cm per month but, in women, it can even reach 1.5 cm;

2 ️ ⃣ Catagen : this is an intermediate phase, which lasts approximately 15 days, where there is a progressive arrest of vital functions. In short, a stalemate;

3 ️ ⃣ Telogen : it's a functional rest phase and it's the final cycle of the hair, which is still in the hair follicle, but without performing mitotic activities. At this point, the hair can stay on the scalp for up to 90-100 days, gradually losing its anchoring system with the follicle.

Whenever it is in the telogen phase - and therefore at rest - it can be pulled away during brushing, without feeling pain. And again, it can fall out when shampooing or when pushed by a new hair that is about to be born.

I wanted to inform you about this, because I think it's important to be aware of it, to experience the changes of season and seasonal hair loss in a more serene way.

The life stages of the canopy

The statistics that can be obtained through the trichogram - the examination to understand the vital phases of the hair - indicate on a normal scalp:

  • about 85% of the hair is in anagen (growth phase, of intense cellular reproduction activity);
  • 1-2% in catagen (intermediate phase, of gradual arrest of the various cellular activities and lasting 15 days);
  • 13-15% in telogen (resting phase during which the hair loses all anchoring systems with the hair follicle and can remain on the skin for up to 3 months without falling out).

"Mosaic" hair replacement

    Today I want to explain to you how hair replacement happens for people, as it is different from what happens for animals. In our case, it is a "mosaic" replacement , where each follicle does its part and produces its hair regardless of what the other follicles that are close to it do.

    In spring and autumn, however, this process is accelerated, which we know as the famous physiological seasonal effluvium.

    The ideal picture you see in the image above is considered normal and occurs only three times a year: in early February, early May and late October.

    In July, a normal trichogram will show that 30% of the hair is in telogen (resting phase) and 70% in anagen (growth phase) .

    Another peak also occurs in January when the hair reaches about 25% in this phase. Considering that hair loss occurs about three months after the beginning of the rest phase (telogen) and - keeping these data in mind - we can say that the turnover will accelerate in the months of April and October , a deceleration between January and February and an almost slowdown between June and July.

    There is no doubt, however, that a correct hair care routine for your hair can help you fight and limit its loss :

    Start by taking thorough care of your scalp.

    We can't have beautiful hair without a healthy scalp.

    Carry out a self-massage with your fingertips or with the Beautilicious Delights wooden brush with rounded tips at least every 2 days, applying pressure and circular movements all over the head, applying the Prebiotic Serum which rebalances the bacterial flora.

    In this way you go to stimulate the blood microcirculation, improving the flow to the bulbs and consequently promoting hair growth ;

    Use the Dermopurifying Shampoo Scrub at least once a month

    Make a detox wrap at least 2 times a month:

    using Kapoor Glow face pack

    It is an Ayurvedic mix with soothing and rebalancing active ingredients , which carries out a detoxifying, sebum-regulating and stimulating activity on the skin;

    To counteract hair loss, alternate fenugreek wraps with amla wraps

    - purifying on the skin - or combine them together, creating a single pack;

    Use delicate shampoos, possibly eco-bio.

    Alternate them with shampoo powders, such as Shikakai, Sidr or Aritha Glow - which not only leave the scalp clean and hair shiny and bouncy, but also fight various scalp issues, which can lead to increased hair loss .

    I advise you to follow these suggestions, so as to find your dream mane again and I hope that thanks to this insight you can experience the seasonal scent that occurs twice a year more serenely because it is completely physiological and natural.

    Before saying goodbye, I'll leave you with 3 curiosities. Did you know that:

    • can the number of hair follicles even go up to 1,000,000 on our head?
    • can the daily growth of a hair be 0.35mm?
    • Is life cycle length genetically predetermined?
