Are Beautilicious Delights Ayurvedic and herbal dyes certified?

New for this year, 2018, our dyeing and Ayurvedic herbs of Indian origin are certified as organic by ECOCERT with the European COSMOS standard, a specification born from the collaboration between the main certification bodies and international organizations in the sector.

Our dyeing herbs come from organic farming and have a low environmental impact.
The COSMOS specification provides for two possible levels of certification "Cosmos Organic" and "Cosmos Natural" .

What does the organic certification certify?

The organic certification ensures that the product follows the strict standards set by the disciplinary to guarantee valid, natural and safe production processes for health.

The organic certification of henna and dyeing and Ayurvedic herbs also offers a further guarantee on the methods used in cultivation and agriculture and certifies the absence of use of GMOs or other non-permitted hybrids.

From the field to the finished product

Our Indian supplier uses a sterilized production process in all stages of processing, from harvesting the plants to packaging the finished products.

The facility where the plants are processed is sterilized and well ventilated to protect the crop from moisture and other possible contaminants.

State-of-the-art plants are used for drying and pulverizing the plants, a steam sterilization system and a latest generation cooling system which allow to maintain the high quality of the products without altering the active ingredients of the plants.

The entire processing and storage plant is certified and approved by the COSMOS specification and falls under the WHO-GMP standard, meeting all international requirements.

Once the plants have been dried and powdered, all the necessary measures are taken to prevent any type of contamination and/or deterioration of the powders and their active ingredients.

Sustainability

Our supplier's organic agricultural fields benefit from a drip irrigation system to avoid water waste in a country where water is a precious commodity and all the structures benefit from solar energy systems.

Are dyeing and/or Ayurvedic herbs tested? What analyzes are performed?

Once collected, the powders are analyzed through organoleptic and sensory tests regarding the colour, aroma, size and appearance of the plant.

Subsequently, after this first step of approval of the raw material, specific tests are carried out to detect E. coli, moulds, bacteria, coliforms, salmonella and yeasts. If microbiological contamination is found then the batch will be sterilized using the state of the art steam sterilization facility.

Subsequently, analyzes are also carried out to detect the levels of aflatoxins, pesticides and parasites. In addition, all products are tested to detect the presence and levels of heavy metals (lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium). Even if heavy metals are present in nature almost everywhere, apply them every 3 weeks for 3-4 hours on our skin, if they exceed the levels imposed by European regulations they can be harmful to health.

Nickel free or Nickel tested?

Plants accumulate metals, so much so that some are used to reclaim contaminated land. Nickel, like all other heavy metals, occurs naturally and it is not possible to have a product that contains 0%. So the law provides that cosmetic products can contain "traces" of nickel, ie within a certain percentage.

The "NICKEL FREE" claim is NOT in compliance with the law because it is not possible to be sure that it has been completely eliminated.

The claim "NICKEL TESTED" means that there is a voluntary certification by the company which certifies that the value of nickel in the product is less than a certain amount.

The Cosmetological Dossier (PIF)

Like all cosmetics in accordance with the law and as required by the EUROPEAN regulation for cosmetic products, all our products (not just dyeing and/or Ayurvedic herbs) are accompanied by a cosmetological dossier, i.e. the PIF which is attached to the marketing notification which is done on the centralized European portal CPNP.

The Cosmetological Dossier contains all the analyzes and tests carried out on the commercialized cosmetic product. Dyeing and Ayurvedic herbs come into direct contact with our scalp and skin, therefore they are to all intents and purposes cosmetic products that must fall within the limits of the law.

What does the PIF contain?

  • Technical and Safety Data Sheet
  • Physico-chemical characteristics of powders
  • Micro/Macroscopic evaluation
  • Toxicological profile of dusts
  • Chemical and Microbiological Stability
  • Microbial/Mycotic Loads
  • Absence of pathogens
  • Security Assessment
  • Challenge Test
  • Pesticide residues within the limits permitted by law
  • Presence of heavy metals within the limits permitted by law

In addition to the checks carried out by the ECOCERT certifying body to ensure that the COSMOS specification is respected and to guarantee absolute purity of the powders and the best quality of the Ayurvedic and dyeing herbs , the simple fact that the Ayurvedic and dyeing herbs are grown with organic techniques without the he use of chemicals and pesticides is a further guarantee of the high quality of Beautilicious Delights henna and how important consumer protection is to us.
