Aloe Vera: 6 Original DIY Homemade Remedies to take advantage of its benefits & properties

If you are also a fan of aloe vera and would like to take advantage of its  benefits as much as possibile, then I'm sure that at least one of the 6 aloe vera DIY homemade remedies that I am going to share with you will inspire you to give it a try.

Hence, let's start by taking a look at the various benefits and properties of the aloe vera plant and how we can include it in our daily beauty regime.

Considered almost a panacea since antiquity, the aloe vera plant can be a great ally if used both internally & externally.

Among its many properties, the most important ones for our skin are the following:

  • purifying thanks to the aloin, active principle found only in the aloe vera
  • nourishing thanks to the wide range of vitamins, minerals, sugars and aminoacids
  • healing thanks to the acemannan which stimulates the turnover of the cells and of the collagen

Aloe Vera: Benefits and Properties

One can obtain two types of extracts from the aloe vera leaves :

the aloe vera juice

&

the aloe vera gel

whom used as therapeutic substances contain different chemical constituents and pharmacological recommendations.

The aloe vera juice

is obtained mainly from the longitudinal incision on the surface of the leaves, while the gel is obtained from the deepest part of the leaves.

The aloe vera juice contains more than 160 different substances: 13 vitamins, sugars and many minerals, among which some essential minerals too: calcium, sodium, iron, potassium, chromium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc.

Including aloe vera juice in our daily diet strengthens the body and helps detoxifying the digestive system thanks to its laxative (due to its content of anthraquinone glycosides and aloine) and cleansing properties.

Natural does not always mean safe, hence the assumption of aloe juice may have side effects or could increase the toxicity of certain drugs or even reduce their absorption. In addition it should not be ingested during pregnancy. Hence it's always recommended to inquire thoroughly about possible side effects before deciding to take it internally.

The aloe vera gel

obtained from the inner part of the aloe vera leaves, is particularly rich in mucilage, having quite different therapeutic applications compared to the applications recommended for the aloe vera juice..

Aloe vera gel is an excellent ingredient in  face creams due to its antibacterial and anti-reddening properties and it has excellent results even in the case of acne-prone skins. Its re-epithelialization properties stimulate the skin to produce new cells, resulting in a soft, silky, smooth & even-toned complexion. As a plus, it gives skin a matte finish removing the excess sebum without clogging pores.

Healing, soothing, moisturizing, nourishing, anti-fungal, antibacterial, antioxidant, antihistaminic, anti-inflammatory, anesthetic, antiseptic, anti-itching, healing, refreshing, the aloe vera gel is used in many skin care and hair care products.
